Salt From Around the World on eBay
Those of you who have been reading my hubs, know that I love shopping on eBay. Nowhere else online can you find this combination of great deals and rare-strange items and exciting shopping experience (searching, bidding, .........waiting for the package to arrive) in one place.
IMHO (In My Humble Opinion) eBay is one of the best sites on the internet today.
So it's probably no surprise that I have yet another eBay hub to share, which relates to one of my favorite topics...food...specifically gourmet salts....
Did you know you can buy the best gourmet salt from around the world on eBay? In this hub I'll showcase some of my favorites - Fleur De Sell, Hawaiian Black, Himalayan Pink (which is featured in my main picture and growing in popularity).
French Fleur De Sell
French "Fleur De Sell" (from Guerande) is crowned the "caviar of salts" by chefs worldwide. It is literally the "First Harvest of the Season". The salt crystals form on the top of the Salt Pond and are gathered by barely skimming the surface. Many chefs regard this salt as a "secret weapon".
French Fleur De Sell has the highest mineral content, a sweet taste, and literally "melts" on the tongue. It is low on sodium and superb on steaks, salads, and especially steaks.
Hiwa Kai - Black Hawaiian Sea Salt
What happens when you mix evaporated Pacific Sea salt and activated charcoal? You get a Fine Hiwa Kai Black Hawaiian Sea Salt.
Stunningly Black, REAL Black......, and silky smooth in texture, this salt goes well on fish (sushi), bread, soups, or mixed with a white salt for dips, or salt crushers. (Looks cool on the kitchen counter as well).
Durango Hickory Smoked Sea Salt
First start with some high quality pure Pacific Sea Salt and then smoke it over Hickory...Voila! Hickory Smoked Sea Salt......Absolutely Delicious!
THINK BBQ, Ribs, Steaks, Pork.....Nuff Said my friends.
Himalayan Pink Sea Salt
Himalayan Pink Sea salt is my personal favorite. It is considered a "finishing" salt, and REALLY brings out the flavor of the dish when crushed over the plate right before serving. It literally "Enhances" the flavors, and for a mediocre chef like me, it's priceless ;)
TIP - Himalayan Pink salt slabs look cool, (but really freakin hurt if hit by one from an unexpecting receiver of such a gift), and are great for presentation to impress ones friends(salmon, sushi etc. can go right on top of one). If you have a salt crusher buy the small rocks, the salt is much easier to manage, trust me. (and if get thrown at you don't even hurt).
Thai Ginger Salt and Japanese Soy Infused
I think the title speaks for itself on this one. Ginger + Salt = Gourmet Thai in your Kitchen.
Need some Modern Asian Flare? Try Japanese Soy Infused Sea Salt!
So, When It comes to Salt and Pepper, check out eBay when you have a chance! A few bucks, one click of the mouse, and you'll have these spices in your kitchen just in time for the holidays!
